Italian fashion won the Met Gala red carpet. On the pink carpet of the evening with the highest content of celebrities and stylists, the creations coming from the Italian brands' ateliers beat the competition of American and French brands. The ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ maxi exhibition will be open at the Metropolitan Museum of Art starting from 9 May 2019 and will be open until 8 September.

The fact that Gucci is a partner of the exhibition also pushes the made in Italy. To open the red carpet, in fact, was Alessandro Michele, creative director of the brand, who walked past the idol of teenagers Harry Styles. The Kering-owned brand has also dressed actresses Salma Hayek Pinault, Dakota Johnson, Saoirse Ronan and 20 other stars. There are also many divas who have chosen to wear Versace couture creations, including the sports champion Serena Williams, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o, singer Dua Lipa, influencer models Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the stainless Jennifer Lopez. In addition to the many creations on display, Moschino distinguished himself for his renowned "camp" status. Jeremy Scott, creative director of the brand owned by Aeffe, arrived together with pop star Gwen Stefani. Targate Moschino also Katy Perry, actresses Tracee Ellis Ross and Sarah Paulson, model Bella Hadid.


Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino has created clothes for established stars such as the top model Naomi Campbell and the actresses Julianne Moore and Joan Collins. The 2019 edition also saw Salvatore Ferragamo's debut at the Met Gata through the outfits chosen by celebrities such as Solange Knowles and Elizabeth Debicki. In Prada, big screen star Carey Mulligan and directors Ava DuVernay and Baz Luhrmann. Elle Fanning chose Miu Miu. Janet Mock opted for Alberta Ferretti.

The French luxury brands such as Saint Laurent, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier were also on the pink carpet. Good debut also for Riccardo Tisci's creations for Burberry, at the first Met Gala. The historians Tommy Hilfiger, Zac Posen, Oscar de la Renta, Thom Browne, Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs have alternated numerous brands of American new wave such as Brandon Maxwell, Alexander Wang, Prabal Gurung and Christian Siriano. Also creations by Viktor & Rolf, Maison Margiela and Peter Dundas were shown.

In the coming months, visitors to the exhibition will be able to purchase special products, in addition to the usual merchandising present in the museum's book shop. Some luxury brands, including Marc Jacobs, Erdem, Moschino and Off-White, have created mini-capsules on the subject: t-shirts, scarves, hats, dolls, fragrances. The range of prices varies from 16 to 2 thousand dollars.
